2023-2026 PROGRAMS
In a context where democratic systems and culture are weakened and discredited in Brazilian society, Pacto pela Democracia aims to coordinate the organized civil society's actions in a network to defend and continuously revitalize democratic construction in Brazil. It aims to contribute to a society where coexistence, freedoms, and democratic rights are ensured by institutions, for all people, and to all people. To achieve this, we divide our actions into four strategic programs:
STRENGTHENING THE INSTITUTIONS
We aim to consolidate and improve democratic institutions, promote active civil society participation in the branches of government, and enhance the quality of the political system, all with a focus on preserving the Democratic Rule of Law. Through the production and dissemination of knowledge, we aim to actively engage in actions that establish permanent spaces for social participation in the Electoral Justice and legislative processes.
ENHANCING THE DEMOCRATIC ENVIRONMENT
Promoting democratic culture and consistently monitoring the quality of democracy in Brazil. This can be achieved through campaigns aimed at bolstering confidence in the electoral system, by formulating a proactive agenda to improve the quality of public discourse during elections (combating misinformation, hate speech, and political violence), and through actions that encourage the promotion of democratic coexistence.
INSTITUTIONAL REINFORCEMENT OF PACTO
Our goal is to create institutional narratives, institutionalize Pacto pela Democracia, solidify our management and financial sustainability, and enhance institutional visibility. Our strategies encompass effective coordination and communication within our network, collaboration with various societal actors, knowledge production and dissemination, and political advocacy.
STRENGTHENING PACTO'S NETWORK
Our goal is to improve and foster the collaborative efforts within Pacto pela Democracia's network. With a focus on knowledge production and dissemination, we aim to broaden racial and ideological diversity within our network, refine spaces and dynamics of dialogue — such as plenaries and meetings — establish and solidify effective coordination flows and methodologies, and extend the reach and effectiveness of communication channels among the organizations comprising our coalition.
